Sweet Tea & Sunsets

Escaping the bustle of daily life, this weekend retreat is purely intended for leisure and relaxation.  At a modest 1,500 sqft of condition space, most time is meant to be spent outdoors. The use of natural materials such as stone and rough sawn Cyprus mimics the surroundings and fits effortlessly into the existing landscape. Large, flanking porches offer ample shaded space to congregate depending on time of day and season. Keeping sunsets and sweet tea as the major design motif, special attention is given to site orientation to take advantage of solar orientation, lake views, and other vistas. An open floor plan connects the kitchen and living areas. Both spaces have expansive views of the lake through large glass windows. The stone fireplace rises through the double height spaces and offers a family gathering area for holidays, special occasions, or weekend get-togethers.  An oversized ceramic, farmhouse style sink and tin shingle ceiling in the kitchen brings a bit of yesteryear nostalgia without sacrificing the modern amenities of stainless appliances and granite counter tops with a matte finish.  The downstairs master suite has an ample private bath and double exterior doors opening onto the elevated back porch overlooking the water.  Two upstairs bedrooms with shared bath offer a private space for family and friends to escape.  An open loft overlooking the living area creates a unique flex space for a game room or an additional bunk style sleeping area.
